Here’s mine:
-Big Sean-Finally Famous (Complete and utter garbage. The mixtapes are so much better. This is radio music for 16 year olds.)
-Yelawolf-Radioactive (Not a horrible album but compared to Trunk Muzik, its a weak effort)
-Wale-Ambition (Dear Wale, you are not Drake. Why did you try and turn this album into an R&B album. Having Lloyd, Jeremiah, and Trey Songz on one cd smells like desperation. You are much much better than this.)
-Lady Gaga-Born This Way (Compared to The Fame/The Fame Monster this cd is not so much pop as it is a dedication to the 80′s. Although one could argue that this cd was just very lazily written. I’m not a huge fan of 80′s music and absolutely nothing caught my ear on this one. Very disappointing.)
Lil Wayne-Tha Carter IV (Ehh. Its typical Wayne nowadays with candy cane songs that just don’t hold any filling. Its scary to listen to Tha Carter III and then listen to this cd back to back. *shudders*)
Lupe Fiasco-Lasers (Watered down album. I know that Atlantic told Lupe to change most of the album because of how “controversial” it was but now that this cd has been his most successful commercially and in sales it really worries me how his future music will sound. Listening to a classic hip hop album like The Cool and then going to this is like running backwards to me. Its not a horrible album, just was
expecting a lot more hip hop. Not hip pop.)
Wiz Khalifa-Rolling Papers ( A damn shame when just a year earlier Wiz’s Kush & OJ was one of the best rap albums last year and it was given for FREE. I like Wiz but this cd was wayyyyyyy too mellow for me. I repect his hustle but definately was disappointed with this one.)
I like your review of wale I think he could do much better but also I think a lot has to do with what camp he is in a few years ago they laughed at him on the radio and said nobody was going to his shows not even D.C. And look at him now with MMG Like they say (life change in a new York minute). lol
Okay, I had to keep it at 5 and keep them strictly hip-hop which was hella hard but here we go:
Childish Gambino-CAMP: This album is a love letter to my life in general. Gambino tells his story of growing up as a black kid in a world where he’s too “white” for his black friends and too weird for his white friends. Being the oreo in the middle sucks but it can definately put your life at advantages and disadvantages. Its a story I can personally relate to and in the end I find myself nodding my head as every song is a lesson to that point. It doesn’t hurt that he’s also one of the most sickest lyricist in the rap game right now. Listen to: Bonfire, L.E.S., You See Me
Kendrick Lamar-Section .80-Crowned the future of West Coast Hip Hop by Dr.Dre and Snoop, Kendrick Lamar blew up this year. Section 80 is a whirlwind of songs ranging from medicated youths, the despair of black women trying to find decent black males, to young prostitues with nowhere to go. With confident bravado, chilling lyrics, and a narrative that explains how the Reagan era influenced the generation of now, KL shows that just because your not from the ghetto doesn’t mean you can’t relate. Listen to: A.D.H.D, Tammy’s Song (Her Evils), Keisha’s Song (Her Pain)
J.Cole-The Sideline Story: If J.Cole is the future of Hip-Hop we might just be able to make it past the Soulja Boys and Gucci Manes of the past. Signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, Cole released his debut album to land Number One on the Billboard Charts. Pretty impressive but the cd is just like its described: its a story. Cole’s topics range from trying to educate his chick on black history, abortions, and even his own daddy issues. Don’t judge the album by its main radio singles, this is storybook hip hop at its best. Listen to: Lights Please, Sideline Story, Breakdown
Big K.R.I.T.-Return of 4Eva:Another artist who just might take Hip-Hop to the next level, Big K.R.I.T. is county as a muthafucka and he wants you to know it. Personally I like K.R.I.T. Wuz Here just a bit more but Return gives you the same honest lyrics, sick beats, and versatile songs ranging from rotating tires, time travel, and talking to dead relatives. Highly recommended. Listen to: Rotation, Time Machine, The Vent
Rittz-White Jesus: White boys should stand up because this truly was your year for Hip-Hop. Eminem returned to reign over most of the songs he was featured in this year. And mainstream got introduced to a LOT of young white indie rappers that all have their own style. But out of all of them, I find myself listening to a white dude from Alabama by the name of Rittz. You could say its the typical story of any rapper trying to come up and be noticed by everyone around him, the industry included. What makes it different for me personally, is that Rittz can actually spit. FAST. He’s quite the storyteller as well. Everything ranging from getting high on X, the love of the speakers on his car, to almost committing suicide. The beats are beastly and match the voicework very well. Like his friend Yelawolf, I hope Rittz gets the recognintion he deserves eventually. If you enjoy country rap with a story to be told, you need to get this one. Listen to: Blowing My Mind, Nowhere to Run, Rattle Back
Think you guys should check out Xuice Hades(formerly known as illecism). check out illthy.com. Also check out him on @Godzdontdie and weareflyhigh.com
check out chuuwee’s watching the throne. its was a project based on the dissapointment of Jay-z and kanye west watch the throne. it tells the story of a king and his life.
who doesn’t luv this song? i mean FOR REALZ. this song iz awesome! did u see her face at the end? lol. i waz on the couch lmao. my bf hates this song. he thikns imma be a stalker
First you guys are dope for these combos it’s something hip hop needs to help expose youth to different sides of hip hop btu on to my request THE FREAKIN BAY HAS TALENT! I would love to hear you guys thoughts on our freshman class of 2012 I like this year because our actual MCs(not lil b and all the other non sense that come with the territory) but young and talented group who seems to do it for more than just money check em out pleaaaaaasseee.

Can Someone give me the defintion of trap music?
Iv’e been Listening to Trap music since the Cool breeze days, Trap is a southern term for drug dealing or the hustle they call it that because though the pursuit is a way out the result often ends up being prison or death in otherwords a Trap……
Trap music embodies these qualities of knowing the probable outcome of your actions but doing what you gotta to survive
BEST examples of trap music…..
Cool Breeze – East point’s Greatist Hits 1999
T.I. – Trap Muzik – 2003
“Bear witness while I bare feet, so you can walk in my shoes and get to know me”
